Backroom Politics is a weekly political roundtable of former politicos and Washington insiders who believe that political statesmanship and civility trumps the strict party line.
Members of the Backroom Politics team are featured lecturers at American, Georgetown and Catholic universities. The team also presents their perspectives to business and civic organizations.
Backroom Politics first aired in November 2010, one week after the mid-terms elections.
Al Swift and Bob Hynes met in 1979 when Swift was a member of the House Commerce Committee and Hynes was a representative of NBC. At that time, they began a long relationship tackling broadcast issues over the years -- a relationship that quickly grew into a strong and lasting friendship.
